I love optical illusions. Looking at common things in a new way, or making common things appear in a unique way is fascinating. Sometimes all it takes is straight lines to trick your mind into believing something that isn’t true.

There are the optical illusions where you first see one object, but other people see another. You have to change your frame of reference to see all the possibilities. I have no data or research on this, but I believe it’s a great creative mind workout.

One of my favorite artists is Bev Doolittle. She is a southwest painter that often creates hidden images in her art. Not all her artwork has hidden creatures, but enough do that I’m always looking for them. Some of her all time greats are the hidden faces in the stream and the horses hidden in the rocks. As I said in a previous post, the desert has its own kind of beauty, and she does a great job showing that to others. She helps to develop the creative eye that sees shadows and flickers of light as other creatures out there. I encourage you to go check out some of her work and look beyond the seen to the unseen hidden world that awaits.
